Le Fin of the Weekend
The funny news: I have no heat. For poker tonight, sweaters and parkas will be mandatory. Inuit Texas hold'em players are encouraged to attend.
The good news: My dad is okay, and hes doing much better. Atleast they let him out of the hospital.
The bad news: My dad is backsliding. He went to the hospital again, and they needed to stop his heart from race (144 for the entire time I was there, just under 5 hours), so they used the paddles on him.
Somehow I have to convince my parents to get a smaller house, sell the big one, and live in a nice little house. I want my dad to start teaching, he has 35 years in the business, he knows his way around a hammer. I want him to finally get a managers position so he can yell at people and ensure quality control. He's good at yelling, it seems like a perfect job for him.
Hes good now, and Im off to go visit him...I will give you guys updates as required.

Having you around, I'm sure he's excellent with a yell. He should definately be bossing, not hammering. I hope you're able to convince them.....but parents are funny in that they never believe their children might have a good idea.
Sorry - no heat?? How did that happen?

Well one us forget to pay the heating bill.
I'm not going to say which one, but I think you know him very well.

Hope your Dad gets better. I'm sure your getting that a lot but I do mean it.
It's kinda funny about the heat, the same thing happened to me two years ago, and I was in Ottawa at the time and had to deal with the situation over the phone. Not very fun. On the bright side at least it didn't happen in December ;-)

Thankfully I have a kind Girlfriend who was willing to let me stay over for a few days. I have Hot Water.
She's such a nice person, wouldn't you say?

Well my Dad has the unfortunate ability to let you know he's mad without raising his voice, hes very quiet mad. Don't get me wrong, he can be loud, but mostly he just yells at your quietly...if that makes any kind of sense at all.
I went over there last night, he looks healthy, but not very mobile. He's getting old, and I don't think he accepts that yet.
The problem with early retirement is that they still have 130,000 on their house (they had it appraised at 350,000, so they would move into a smaller house, something with a yard so my mom can putter.
I know they can't afford to live off just my mom's salary. I'm not sure what they can do...I know if they ask for me help, I will give it to them. I'm just not sure if they will ask for help. They will think of something though, and I may or may not be part of the equation.
