What are you 90lbs? Soaking Wet?

So aikido is fun. A girl from quebec is there, quite advanced, and shes more...well..a stick insect than a person.

You never want to hear a girl say "nope, I'm just not feeling it" followed immediately by "I'm sorry, did I hurt you?" Needless to say my pride took a big hit, I had to outweigh this girl by 80 pounds but she still threw me around like a rag doll.

Its a good learning experiance though, Aikido is all about humility and "lowering your centre". I felt good and lowered on the tuesday night.

On the wednesday, different girl, moderately advanced, tried to remove my shoulder from its socket. I tried to protest, but only a little "aiee" came out, as it hurt pretty bad. She informed me to "tap your leg" when it hurts too bad. Now I know.

See being thrown by a black belt is fun and easy, they lead you exactly where you need to go and your body wants to go there, hence why aikido is so effective: it uses the attackers own force and iniative against them. A beginner is easy too, they don't know what they are doing and normally go about things easily. I myself refuse to even attempt some moves unless its against a black belt, for as sensai says "you can not hurt a black belt". Which is code for "it will be the black belts own fault if you hurt him". I can sure as hell hurt a moderately skilled, and moderately skilled can hurt me. They know enough to do the move, but not well enough to react properly when the beginner ultimately fucks up. Hence my shoulder incident. Had I known how to stop it, trust me I would have.

Aikido and I have a love hate relationship.

Im turning into a bit of a japanophile. I bought a Japanese Car, I take Japanese Martial Arts, and I love Japanese style EDO.

What's worse is that I didn't even realize it.

Comments:
I think I'm turning Japanese, think I'm turning Japanese I really think so... turning Japaneses, oh yes I'm turning Japanese I really think so...

That song and I have something in Common, we both came out in the 80's.
